Naturopathic Services and Acupuncture

"It is so comforting to know that not only are you available to talk to, but you really do care. I hate to repeat myself, but your concern and time and knowing that you are always there for me has been the greatest gifts anyone can give me. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you."

Founded upon a holistic philosophy, naturopathic medicine combines safe and effective traditional therapies with the most current advances in modern medicine. Naturopathic medicine is appropriate for the management of a broad range of health conditions affecting people of all ages.

Diet and Lifestyle Counseling

Inner Source Health offers many different services that you can utilize depending on your needs.

Clinical Nutrition

Nowadays it is common knowledge that diet and nutrition affect health. Naturopathic doctors not only teach the components of a healthy diet but also recommend dietary changes and nutritional supplementation that are specific to a particular condition.

Botanical (Herbal) Medicine

Herbal remedies have been used by all cultures since the beginning of time. Many modern pharmaceutical drugs are derived from plants, but the plants are altered, refined, and synthetically produced. Naturopathic Doctors believe the unaltered, natural form of the plant provides the most desirable medicinal response with fewer to no side effects.

Lifestyle Counseling

Naturopathic Doctors are trained to foster the therapeutic relationship through active, empathic listening. They help you identify, set and achieve goals to create a healthy lifestyle and diet.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a form of medicine that utilizes dilute, potentized remedies made from plant, animal and mineral substances. It is based on two fundamental principles:

The greater the dilution of a remedy the more powerful is its medicinal effects.

"Like cures like", which means a dilute, potentized substance will produce the same symptoms as the disease when given to a healthy person.

Homeopathy, taken from the Greek 'homoios', meaning similar, and “pathos”, meaning suffering, works on the body/mind system as a whole, aiming to promote physical and mental well-being. Looking beyond labels that are traditionally given to disorders, homeopathy seeks to strengthen the underlying imbalance or disorder that lies within the person.

Acupuncture

At Inner Source Health use many techniques in conjunction with acupuncture in order to treat the whole patient.

Acupuncture is a healing therapy which involves inserting fine needles into specific points, or meridians, along the body. It reestablishes and unblocks the flow of energy, allowing for a more thorough treatment of the whole person, not just the symptoms of the ailment.

The World Health Organization recognizes the ability of acupuncture and traditional Oriental medicine to treat over 200 commonly encountered conditions.

Emotional Freedom Technique

A blend between acupressure and counseling, emotional freedom technique is an excellent and gentle method to help each patient let go of issues that are of an emotionally charged and that may be signifcatnly contributing to physical illness.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Program

Facial Rejuvenation, or Cosmetic Acupuncture, is a centuries-old effective technique that not only restores your youthful appearance, but also enhances your bodily health and beauty from within. This safe, non-invasive, and effective form of treatment is a natural alternative to conventional cosmetic procedures such as Botox and plastic surgery. These procedures are more traumatic and toxic for the body. This type of stress aids in the aging process. Choosing the wholistic, non-invasive approach, as with Facial Rejuvenation, will result in a well-toned, vibrant and natural, youthful look without side effects, toxicity, inflammation, or recovery time. Naturopathic Remedies

Qualifications

A naturopathic doctor (ND) attends a four-year medical school and is educated in all of the same basic and clinical sciences as a medical doctor and also studies holistic nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness. The philosophy of a naturopathic school is to use the the most natural remedies and modalities possible and safe to help the body heal itself.

In addition to a standard medical curriculum (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, minor surgery, clinical sciences, etc..), the naturopathic doctor is required to complete additional training in clinical nutrition, homeopathy, botanical medicine, hydrotherapy and counseling. A naturopathic doctor takes rigorous professional basic science and clinical board exams so that he or she may be licensed by a state or jurisdiction as a primary care general practice physician in states that license naturopathic doctors. There are 21 states and the District of Columbia that license naturopathic doctors to practice medicine. In those licensed states only can naturopathic doctors diagnose and treat disease, perform physical exams, as well as prescribe pharmaceutical medications and prescribe laboratory tests.

Licensing

Please note that in the State of New York, under New York Education Law 8211, the practitioners of Inner Source Natural Health and Acupuncture practice as licensed acupuncturists and advise each patient as to the importance of consulting with a licensed physician for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. In the State of Washington, Drs. LoGiudice, and Bongiorno of InnerSource Natural Health and Acupuncture are licensed naturopathic physicians. In the State of Connecticut, Dr. Kachko is a licensed naturopathic doctor.

There is legislation in the New York State Assembly and Senate supported by close to 100 New York State legislators, and it is projected that licensure of naturopathic doctors may occur in the next two years. Please visit http://www.nyanp.org/licensure.php to support these licensure efforts.
